It’s the brave virtuoso who tackles the solo part of Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto. Written in 1912 and extensively revised – though perhaps a better word is recomposed – in 1923 (the original score having been lost during the Revolution) it has the reputation of being amongst the most technically challenging works in the entire repertoire.
