Who is Norway’s most famous composer? Not much doubt as to the answer to that question — Edvard Grieg.
But who else is there? A much trickier question! And, unless they know their Scandinavian composers reasonably well, it generally leaves most people stumped.
So this week we’ll not only examine the music of Grieg but also that of his contemporary, close friend and fellow composer, Johan Svendsen (you can view the score of his Second Symphony from the link below).
